Halloween is next week! It’s not too late to get into the Spirit! Halloween night brings lots of foot traffic to your home, making it a great holiday for decorating, it also calls for checking in on your front yard lighting. If you’re looking for a little inspiration to get started, here are a few simple tips.

Switch up your front yard lighting with some orange and black or dim lighting along your walkway that will lead guests to your door for trick or treating! Have a character to greet guests along the way.

The simplest changes can make all the difference when it comes to Halloween decorating on your front porch. Swap out your everyday doormat and add a fall-themed wreath to your front door. Create a classic country Halloween vignette on your porch by arranging hay bales, mums, pumpkins, and dried corn stalks around your steps. If you’re not into ghosts and goblins, then a good old-fashioned country porch is a great way to bring in the fall season and your decorations will last through Thanksgiving.

Pumpkins and gourds can easily come together to make a simple outdoor decoration, whether lined up on your steps or in a planter. You can fill a basket with your favorite colorful fall pumpkins, squash, and other gourds, and place it on your doorstep, porch, or patio. Want a different look? Try using white pumpkins instead of orange.

With everything happening in front of the house, turn your fire pit into a cozy retreat from the scary stuff. Roast marshmallows with the kids once they come home. Don’t have a fire pit? There is no better time than now to have one built, so you can enjoy it through the cold months.

Most importantly, have a fun and safe night, and don’t forget to stock up on candy for the trick-or-treaters!
